Nouvelle Glass: An Environmentally Conscious Company

At Nouvelle Glass we are committed to minimising our impact on the environment. Being a glassware company we are conscious of our carbon footprint and we are constantly trying to find ways to run our business in more sustainable ways. Everything that you receive from us has this in mind.

We spend lots of time sourcing sustainable packaging solutions and aligning our business with suppliers who are also environmentally conscious. From certified compostable and recycled packaging, to using high quality reusable products, you can be assured that you are also making a difference.

Our Nouvelle Glass Gift Boxes & Posting Boxes

Our presentation gift boxes and posting boxes are 100% recyclable and reusable. Of course, we would love you to reuse these as we spent a lot of time with our supplier to make them presentable. They are also collapsible, so you can store them away flat. If you must discard them, please recycle them in your council bin.

Our Tissue Paper, Packing Tape, and Stickers

The Nouvelle Glass branded tissue paper, packing tape, and sticker that comes in/on your delivery box is 100% certified home compostable. This means it’ll break down in your home compost within 180 days (and 90 days in commercial composters). They are all also made from recycled paper and is of course 100% recyclable.

Our Nouvelle Glass Ribbon (for our Gift Boxes)

For our Ribbon we have sourced a company to make it who are committed to fair and ethical business practices, focusing on keeping as much production in Australia as possible and sourcing only those products that reflect the quality and principles we also stand behind. 95% of our ribbon is printed in Melbourne (supporting local production, reducing carbon miles & ensuring reliability of supply), and our ribbon is sourced from Australian and European manufacturers with ethical and fairtrade policies in place. We deal with a SEDEX registered factory when outsourcing is required.

Our Recycled Woven Edged Satin Ribbon is manufactured from recycled water bottles diverted from landfill with the entire process audited & certified by the Global Recycled Standard. The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labelling from processing, manufacturing and packaging to trading and distribution. It also sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

The water bottles used to manufacture this ribbon are sourced from regulated collection points which create fair trade opportunity and income for locals. We are really proud of this ribbon and our supplier is the only Australian business to offer it!

The Nouvelle Glass ribbon was printed by John, who has decades of printing experience behind him and is a stickler for detail. He is also an amazing cook!

How We Protect Our Glassware During Shipping

We have successfully avoided shipping our glasses with bubble wrap and other harmful plastics. We pack our glassware in a purposely designed sleeve that is not only strong, but is also sustainable. This sleeve is produced using 100% recycled paper. We encourage you to reuse this at home for transporting or storing away your own glassware, wine bottles or fragile items.

Our Shipping Labels and Label Printer

Our shipping labels use paper products that are The Forest Stewardship (FSC) certified. FSC is an organisation that is dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. They're also 100% recyclable.

Our label printers are also environmentally friendly, using thermal technology to print, rather than ink. This means the reduction of printer ribbons/cartridges and inks containing harmful chemicals.

Our Nouvelle Glass Dust Bags

Your Nouvelle Glass comes in a dust bag made from organic cotton muslin, When muslin reaches the end of its life, it is biodegradable. We ask that you reuse these bags rather than dispose of them, as they are designed to be presentable. When they reach the end of their life, please dispose of them thoughtfully with the biodegradable process in mind.
